Welcome
A very warm welcome to Windrush Charlton Primary School. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our school to you.
Windrush Charlton is an outstanding school situated at the heart of our Charlton community. We are a large and inclusive school serving a diverse community. With over 70 languages spoken, we provide education to pupils and their families from various backgrounds, offering a wonderful opportunity to learn from each other. At our school, we actively promote and model values such as happiness, diversity, collaboration, kindness, and respect. These values are ingrained from the very beginning of a pupil’s education at Windrush Charlton, creating a safe environment where learning can flourish.
Through a well-planned and sequenced curriculum, our children make excellent progress in Reading, Writing, and Maths from the very beginning of their time here at Windrush Charlton. As well as the core subjects, other areas of the national curriculum are delivered to a very high standard where knowledge and skills are built upon, not only within the year but year on year as your child progresses through at Windrush Charlton. By the time your child leaves Windrush Charlton at the end of Year 6, they will have acquired a broad and balanced set of skills and knowledge about the world in which they live, which will prepare them fully for their KS3 curriculum.
Not only are we proud of the curriculum that takes place within our school, but we also strive to provide opportunities for pupils to learn outside the classroom settings, such as visits to the National Gallery, theatre productions, camping experiences, and visits to the British Museum, to name a few! As a result, we foster a lifelong love for learning that continues beyond a pupil's time at Windrush. These learning opportunities and Windrush memories we create make a huge impact on the lives of our children.
We feel strongly that creating an environment in which we strike the correct balance between challenge and nurture, and where children have a clear understanding of what they need to do to succeed, develops well-rounded children who, above all, are happy.
Having been Head teacher at Windrush Charlton for over 10 years, I could not be any prouder of the school we have created here at the heart of Greenwich – we aim for excellence in everything we do.
We hope that you will find our website to be both extensive and easy to use. If you are a prospective parent, please do contact us to make an appointment to see the school in action.
